Wow. Kicky and Jumpy are 2. It's been a fast and fun 2 years. I'll cover the bases on their birthday and then backtrack through the holidays in a later post.
The boys started celebrating on Thursday because all birthdays should be celebrated through the weekend and up until the big day and then (sometimes) a few days past. As gifts arrived from family, the boys opened them. No sense in waiting as things like anticipation and building excitement are lost on toddlers. The boys received some very cool and lovely things from their Aunt Diane (frequently called Annie Dianie). Thursday was a day of sticker fun!
More boxes came on Thursday and also on Friday. Saturday was a great day. The boys opened lots of great presents from Oma and Opa. The boys were very excited over a light that projects the moon and stars on the ceiling. Every day the boys ask to see the moon and every night they look outside their bedroom windows for the moon. This light will solve our cycles of the moon issues. There was a big tussle over the light.
They had a terrific time playing in the tissue and wrapping paper that accompanied the gifts. The boys enjoyed playing with trucks and reading books.
A fast lunch and a quick nap were followed by wonderful presents from Mimi and Papa. By now the boys had honed their unwrapping skills and had a great time opening gifts. They loved playing with their new dump truck and bulldozer. Both boys enjoyed reading books and playing with their new cell phones. There were several cute shirts and 2 birthday boy outfits that were immediately put to good use :)
The evening was topped off by pizza and Oswald cupcakes! A boys' dream come true, well, the boys in our house at least.
Sunday was another big day of fun, playing, opening some gifts from Mom and Dad and more CUPCAKES!
Monday - THE BIG DAY!
The boys wore "Birthday Boy" outfits from Mimi and Papa and looked very cute. With their new haircuts, they look like little boys and all the baby-like qualities are gone.
The boys played all day bopping from trucks to trains to books to blocks to puzzles to farm to airplane to you name it. They had spaghetti and meatballs for their birthday dinner followed by a 2 rounds of "Happy Birthday to you" - one for each boy. Then the boys had cupcakes with flameless candles. As Jason ate his cupcake he sang "Happy Birthday" to Kevin and then Kevin said "happy happy" to Jason.
Then the boys opened more gifts from Mommy and Daddy. Thomas and James push-n-go trains were a big hit as were Biscuit and Oswald books. The party continued on until after the typical bedtime.
The boys loved all their presents and thank everyone for their generosity and thoughtfulness!
