2011 - September

September was a big month. The boys started attending preschool. As they attend one day a week, we call it "playgroup" or "playschool". It's been an interesting situation. They have fun there but both boys miss being home and playing with Sue, Mom and Dad so they are a bit sad when Joe drops them off.

My birthday was fun. Sue and the boys made brownies and we celebrated by singing and lighting the candles a few times. We celebrated for a week. Ice cream cake on Monday, brownies on Tuesday, dinner at Solea on Wednesday and then more cake and brownies the rest of the week! Lots of fun!

And then there was Hurrican Irene. We prepared for the worst but were very lucky in that we didn't lose power and sustained on a teeny bit of damage. The top of a tree came down in back and took down our fence. Here's Joe showing that tree who's boss.

Happy New Years!

Belated New Year's tidings to all. I've been remiss in posting so I'll start with today and then move backward to the 2011 wrap up. The boys and I have been wanting to bake cookies since before Christmas and yet each weekend came/went and no cookies. We woke up today committed to the effort and here are some pictures of Baker Kevin and Baker Jason and their first batch of cookies. Kevin was a big help blending the eggs and sugar and helping to make the dough. Both boys were naturals when it came to cutting out the shapes. They made Snoopy cookies, Darth Vader, Yoda, Boba Fett, Storm Trooper cookies, hearts, trees, and stars. I hope you enjoy the pix as much as they enjoyed making and eating them.

Love,
Kathy

August

Summer went by too quickly. In July, the boys and I visited Canobie Lake Park in NH where the boys' dislike of rides was fully confirmed. We had fun watching everyone else ride the rides and it was a lovely day.
In August, we celebrated Mimi's birthday at Southwick Zoo. A great day, beautiful weather, yummy cake and much fun.

Summer wound down with lots of playground fun, ice cream, trips to CJ's for ice cream, trips to Dairy Queen for ice cream, Friendly's ice cream (are you seeing a pattern?).

Summer was completely wrapped up by Hurricane Irene. We had power until 3 days later. Go figure. We lost the top of a tree at the back of the property. All in all, we fared very well. So long Summer, we barely knew ye.

Newest Member of the family

Roughly a month ago,we increased our family by 1. He's small, ginger and ornery. For a day and a half he was called "Pencil". That was later replaced with "Corn on the Cob". A week later his name was amended to "O'Toodles". Half of our house called him Corn on the Cob and the other half called him "O'Toodles". He's been to the vet and he's officially "Corn on the Cob O'Toodles".

First Day of School

September 2nd, 2011
Jason and Kevin attended their first day of preschool. As they attend just one day a week, we call it playgroup or playschool. Day 1 - Kevin jumps right in while Jason cries off and on for 3 hours. At the end of the day, he's loving it.

I met the boys at the car at home and when I asked the boys how they liked their first day of playgroup, Jason answered, "It was great. I cried." Kevin said, "I liked it." They each had an after school snack: a chocolate chunk cookie and milk. Kevin's comment, "This is the best cookie I've ever had."

Here are some pictures of the boys with their Mario backpacks and Mario lunch boxes. Jason has Mario vines while Kevin has Go-Kart Mario. Below, Jason is playing on the school slide while Kevin drives Roary the race car.
